PPIAA
Progress Properties Incorporated Alumni Association
What is "PPIAA"?
A Quick History Lesson - In late 1997, the Frith family - our longtime landlords and friends of Sigma Nu - let us know they planned to sell 401 Progress Street. They kindly gave the Fraternity first dibs, with a $200,000 price tag. Cue the head-spinning panic at the thought of losing the House!
But Sigma Nus didn't sit still for long. With no formal alumni association and the Active Chapter running year-to-year, a group of dedicated alumni stepped up and built one from scratch - Progress Properties Incorporated (PPI) - to buy and manage the House.
A scrappy grassroots capital campaign in 1998 led by a group of heroic volunteers rallied broad-based alumni support and raised the funds to seal the deal. PPI closed the deal in September with a $160,000 private mortgage from the Friths (30-year amortization, 8% interest, 8-year balloon). With a newly elected Board and Officers, PPI got to work - and btw more than a few of those early alumni leaders are still serving the brotherhood today, often quietly, but with great impact.
Fast-forward 25 years......PPI is now PPIAA
